So, I'm in this 3H fandom event called "Blue Lions Big Bang".
Big Bangs, for those uninitiated, is a fandom event or challenge, where a writer and an artist get paired. The writer creates a fic, and the artist makes art based on the fic. (For more info, here's a Fanlore wiki article! I love Fanlore.)
For November, we were encouraged to take part in a challenge not-so-different from NaNoWriMo (again, relevant Fanlore article...) but of course, not actually associated with the original, controversial event. The goal was very flexible; I set mine to just 6,000 words, or essentially, finish my first draft of chapters 1-4 before the 50% check-in by November 30.
I'm happy to report that I finished it...!

I actually had a very loose schedule; basically, I gave myself weekends off, and November 10-16 off because that week had two different fandom events I also wanted to participate in. My birthday was also on this month, so I also did not write on that day. For the days I did write, however, I had a goal of 400 words per day.

^ This is how my calendar looked like... excuse the shoddy Paint job. The orange boxes were the days when I wrote, the crossed out ones are all off days, and deadlines were in yellow boxes.
I set a low word count because I was initially struggling to get my fic going, and had little confidence about my ability to commit. So, it was a modest goal, and I've probably written 6,000 words in one sitting, but I'm proud of myself for staying on track and even finishing early. I'd probably have wasted the whole month away if this mini challenge didn't hold me accountable.
I still have a few days left until the next check-in, but I'll probably work on finishing Chapter 5.
The fic is set to be published on February 2026. I'm working on getting it beta'd, and my artist is sending me their lovely drafts, and I'm so, so excited. I'm also super worried about possibly disappointing everyone and bringing dishonor on my cow, but for now, let me bask in this sense of accomplishment.
